Al White - Board Member

Al WhiteAl White was first elected to the Flagstaff City Council in May 2000. Now in his third term, he is currently serving his second term as Vice-Mayor. Concern for both the environment and the economy has made him a firm believer in planning for sustainable growth.

Al moved to Flagstaff in 1989 from the Grand Canyon where he had worked in hotel management since 1976. His career in the hospitality industry has provided Al a key understanding of tourism issues in Flagstaff. Al's work as the owner/operator of New World Recycling of Flagstaff also afforded him an opportunity to witness the operation and actions of City staff.

Since becoming a paraplegic in 1996 and before running for Council, Al furthered his involvement in his community by becoming the Chairperson of the City’s Disability Awareness Commission and attending City Council work sessions and Regional Planning meetings.

Al has two grown children, Kathleen and Daniel.
