William M. Auberle, P.E., BCEE - Board Member

Bill AuberleBill Auberle is a Principal of the engineering consulting firm EN3 Professionals, LLC. He concurrently is Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Northern Arizona University where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in environmental engineering and management.

Bill has more than forty years experience as an environmental engineer, manager, regulatory official, and educator. His work as an educator and practicing engineer specializes in environmental management, air quality engineering, waste management, and renewable energy development. Previous work experiences include management of environmental regulatory programs for the State of Colorado and President of Yates and Auberle, Ltd. – a nationwide environmental consulting firm. Bill is a licensed professional engineer in multiple states and a board certified environmental engineer (BCEE) by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers.

In addition to his professional practice and responsibilities, Bill is active in several non-profit and service organizations. He serves as a member of the board of directors and treasurer of both the Landsward Institute and the Coconino County Sustainable Economic Development Initiative. Bill has been appointed and served as a member of several environmental advisory organizations including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Air Act Advisory Committee and Advanced Coal Technology Advisory Team. His international engagements include membership on the Steering Committee for Building Environmental Aboriginal Human Resources (Canada) and consultant to the European Union’s Education for Civil Engineering Management Program.

Bill is a frequent speaker and regular author of technical publications on contemporary environmental and energy engineering topics. He has been recognized for his professional contributions with awards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (twice), Fellow Membership in the Air & Waste Management Association (AWMA) and recipient of AWMA’s Lyman Ripperton Award for excellence in environmental education.

Bill takes time to pursue his personal interests in sports and the outdoors. He is an avid birder and serves on the board of directors of Audubon Arizona where he co-chairs the Science and Policy Committee. Travel, golf, fishing, and hiking complement his enjoyment of life in Flagstaff. He welcomes his children and eight grandchildren at every opportunity.
