SEDI LeadershipCarl Ramsey, AIA LEED-AP IAQP REA - Board Member
Mr. Ramsey is currently President and Arizona State Board member of the American Institute of Architects - Grand Canyon Chapter. Mr. Ramsey’s education includes a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Kansas State University in 1970. He is a Licensed Architect in six states. Mr. Ramsey has also completed extensive additional training, education, testing and certification for numerous indoor air quality related national certifications including: Certified Indoor Environmental Professional (CIEP); Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-Accredited Professional through the U. S. Green Building Council (LEED-AP); Registered Environmental Assessor through the California EPA (REA); Indoor Air Quality Professional by the Association of Energy Engineers (IAQP); Asbestos AHERA Inspector, Abatement Designer, and Hazard Management Planner; and Radon Risk Assessor, Lead Paint Hazard Risk Assessor, and Mold Remediation Supervisor. He also has extensive additional certification, education and training in several building energy related area including being a HERS rater (Housing Energy Rating Service) and BPI professional or Building Performance Institute (Energy) Rating Professional. Mr. Ramsey is author, creator and presenter of numerous sustainability-related presentations including “Mold 101" (a training class for realtors),“ Green Architecture and Construction," “Green Building Finishes and Products," “Energy Efficient Retrofits and Construction," “The Air We Breathe," “Solar Photovoltaic Design and Installation," “Indoor Air Quality for Buildings,” and “LEED U.S. Green Building Council Requirements for Homes,” among others. His articles about sustainable Design and Construction have been published in “Home Power Magazine," Home Energy Magazine,” "Sedona Green Magazine,” and a book entitled “How to Hire Your Professional Consultant." His work has been aired internationally on the Science Channel Television Network. He has chaired the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) for eight years for a standard “Worker Protection for Lead Paint Exposure,” a written standard adopted by HUD and many other federal agencies. His Architecture Design and Construction work has been awarded numerous sustainable awards including one of the first Platinum LEED rated home awards (highest rating) by the U. S. Green Building Council in the nation/world. He was named “Green Builder of 2008" by Green Builder Magazine. He is the founder of the Northern Arizona Chapter of the U. S. Green Building Council. Mr. Ramsey has a number of hobbies including photography, wood working, pencil and charcoal drawing, gardening and wine making. He has two sons, Brandon, a Computer Software Systems Manager, and Andrew, a Solar Designer and Installation Supervisor for his business.
