Actions in Progress : Advocacy

Government must establish a regulatory and fiscal environment that encourages the implementation of alternative energy sources that use clean technologies, supports the implementation of efficiency and conservation programs, and encourages innovation and entrepreneurship. SEDI's action steps include:

• Provide enabling, facilitating and collaborative support for a program that encourages widespread retrofitting of existing residential and commercial buildings for greater energy efficiency.
• Develop, implement and support strong education, marketing, and communications programs, processes and products to widely disseminate information about incentives for small-scale wind and solar installation and for energy efficiency programs and practices.
• Support new incentives for both large and small scale renewable energy.
• Research and develop state legislation to enable the creation of renewable energy special districts and/or other policies and regulations that encourage the installation and use of renewable energy technology.
