Actions in Progress : Coordinate Assistance

Home-based industries face a confusing array of organizations and programs designed to help them plan for and finance their businesses. The SEDI Home-based Industries Action Team is working on the following action steps:

  • Convene a meeting of the heads of the Small Business Development Center, Northern Arizona Center for Emerging Technologies, Basic Business Empowerment program from the Coconino County Community Services Department, Coconino County Career Center, and the City of Flagstaff Community Investment Division to work to coordinate services and outreach. Include the Chamber of Commerce, Flagstaff Independent Business Alliance and tribal representatives. Ask the group to host periodic “open houses” to introduce potential entrepreneurs to their respective organizations and services.
  • Use SEDI's Web site to organize and disseminate information of use to home-based entrepreneurs. Evolve the site into a “wiki” that uses open-source collaborative tools to enable online information-sharing and problem-solving.
