Actions in Progress : Water Resources

The sustainability of water resources and watersheds is crucial to the future of our semi-arid region. Large-scale watershed restoration will require a market-based approach based on the determination of the economic value of healthy watersheds. We must also promote and encourage the use of reclaimed water and develop incentives for water conservation.

Action steps include:

  • Compile regional inventories of water resources.
  • Support efforts to determine the economic value of healthy watersheds.
  • Implement a market-based approach for large-scale watershed restoration.
  • Support industries that practice water conservation and reuse.
